Where Genetics Meets AI, Wearables and the Future of Personalized Health
I’ve always been drawn to projects where different technologies begin to collide in interesting ways.
CRI Genetics is one of those projects.
Founded by Alex Mulyar, CRI Genetics has spent the past decade helping people better understand themselves through their DNA.
Along the way, the company has DNA-tested approximately 600,000 consumers and developed a platform offering more than 860 health, trait and wellness reports based on roughly 700,000 genetic markers per customer.
But what caught my attention wasn’t simply what CRI has already built.
It was what all of that could potentially become.
DNA Meets the Wearable
CRI recently took another step with Pangea, connecting an individual’s genetics with biometric information collected through a wearable ring and an AI-enhanced app.
Think about the possibilities.
A wearable can tell us what’s happening to our bodies today: our heart rate, sleep, activity, recovery and other constantly changing biological signals.
Our DNA represents something very different. It’s the biological blueprint we started with.
What happens when those two worlds begin talking to each other?
And what happens when artificial intelligence joins the conversation?
600,000 Starting Points
CRI isn’t starting from zero.
Approximately 600,000 people have already taken a CRI DNA test, creating an extraordinary foundation from which to explore what personalized health could become.
Pangea is still young, but it points toward something I find fascinating: an ongoing health experience that combines what our genetics may tell us with what our bodies are telling us every day.
What Comes Next?
Alex recently asked me to join CRI Genetics as a Business Advisor, helping him think about where the company and nearly a decade of experience in consumer genomics could go next.
For me, the opportunity sits at the intersection of three rapidly evolving worlds:
Genetics + biometrics + artificial intelligence.
Bringing those three worlds together could change how we understand our health and what truly personalized healthcare can become.
That’s a future I’m excited to help Alex and CRI explore.
